Carlos Botelho Obituary

Swansea - Carlos Manuel Botelho,78, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Swansea, MA, on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Born on May 14, 1947, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Carlos was a man of kindness and gentle spirit whose love and generosity touched all who knew him.

Carlos, to his friends and family, was the beloved husband of Noemia (Soares) Botelho, with whom he shared over 54 beautiful years of marriage. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. He was the devoted son of the late Eduardo and Aldina (Soares) Botelho, and a caring brother to Gilberto Botelho of Fall River, Sr. Gabriella Botelho of Porto, Portugal, Maria Do Carmo Botelho of Sao Miguel, Fernanda Rodrigues of Fall River, Isaura Medeiros of Sao Miguel, and he held dear the memory of his late brother Eduardo Botelho.

Carlos was a proud father to Phillip Botelho and his wife Michelle of East Providence, Edward Botelho and his wife Betsy of North Kingstown, and Peter Botelho and his wife Wendy of Swansea. His role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, cherishing every moment spent with his grandchildren Sarah, Alexander, Zachary, Edward, Abigail, Benjamin, Gianna, and Noah. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Before relocating to Swansea, Carlos lived in East Providence for many years. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church and found great solace and community within its walls. In his professional life, Carlos began his career in Portugal as a bookkeeper and payroll specialist. After moving to America, he worked as a machine operator for Healthtex for four years before becoming disabled. Despite the challenges he faced, Carlos's resilience and positive outlook remained an inspiration to all.

An avid coin collector, Carlos found immense pleasure in the pursuit of unique and historical pieces. His collection was a testament to his meticulous nature and his appreciation for the stories held within each coin.

Carlos will be remembered as a loving, kind, and gentle soul. His presence brought a sense of calm and warmth to any room, and his legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and his passions were the cornerstones of a life well-lived.

The world is undoubtedly a better place for having had Carlos in it, and though he will be deeply missed, the memories of his loving kindness will continue to comfort and guide his family and friends.
