Gail Carpenter Obituary

Gail Ann Carpenter of Cranston, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born on October 20, 1955, in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Marjorie R. (Gridley) Carpenter. Gail's warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Gail grew up in a lively household and was one of five siblings.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Tara Carpenter of Cranston and a son, Joseph Carpenter of Middleburg, Florida.  She was a devoted sister to Douglas A. Carpenter of Johnston, Robin L. Cambra of Pawtucket, and David G. Carpenter of Middleburg, Florida.  Predeceased by her sister Arleen J. Gridley, Gail's memory will live on through her many nieces and nephews who held her dear.  Her joy multiplied with the birth of her grandchildren, Raelynn and Ramello Lizardo, whom she adored with all her heart.

Gail dedicated over 25 years of service as a clerical worker at the print shop of Johnson and Wales University before retiring in 2022.

Gail's interests were as varied as they were joyful.  She found pleasure in the simple things in life such as shopping for unique finds, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, and engaging in spirited card games.  Flea markets and church bazaars were a particular delight for Gail, where she could often be found on the hunt for treasures.  Her love for walking and spending quality time with her family were the cornerstones of her leisure activities.

She approached life with a sense of curiosity and generosity that made her a remarkable individual. Gail's ability to find the interesting in the everyday, to listen intently, and to offer a helping hand whenever needed, defined her character.  As we say goodbye to Gail Ann Carpenter, we celebrate the life of a woman who was the embodiment of kindness and the epitome of an interesting and engaging spirit.  Her laughter, stories and unconditional love for her family and friends will be remembered fondly and with great affection.  Gail's legacy is of love, laughter, and the preciousness of family ties, and it will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.  Her light, though no longer with us in this world, shines on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 11:00am at REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, 1 Rhode Island Avenue, Johnston.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  Calling hours are on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 2:00pm-4:00pm in the Rebello Funeral Home.
