Jose Nieves Rodriguez

RUMFORD – Jose E. Nieves Rodriguez, 90, of Rumford, Rhode Island, passed away on February 18, 2026, at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence.

Born in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, he was the loving son of the late Mariano Nieves and Olegaria Rodrigues.

Jose proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of his professional life as a life insurance agent, where he was known for his integrity and dedication to those he served.

A devout Catholic, Jose’s faith was an important part of his life. He was a passionate baseball fan, a skilled card and dominoes player, and was well known for his remarkable memory for numbers. He was truly the life of the party — always enjoying music, playing his accordion, and bringing joy and laughter to those around him.

He is survived by his son, Jose E. Nieves Martinez and his fiancée, Magaly Ortiz, of Puerto Rico; his daughter, Yolanda O’Neill and her husband, John O’Neill, of Rumford, Rhode Island; and his three cherished grandchildren, Jancellys Nieves of Puerto Rico, Alejandra O’Neil of High Point, North Carolina, and Mariela Goodson of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is also survived by three loving siblings and was predeceased by six siblings.
